FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS 2022 PRESENTS FABRIZIO PLESSI “SECRET WATER”
The Festival of the Arts came back to Umbria for the third year in a row after the successful second edition held in Todi and it was curated by Marco Tonelli. The event was promoted by the Beverly Pepper Projects Foundation and realized in partnership with the Municipality of Todi. The aim is to invite the most important contemporary artists to make monumental installations in public spaces around Todi in order to create a direct connection between people and contemporary art. The curtain went up on August 26 and the spotlight was on “Todi Today” (2022), a temporary installation by the video artist Fabrizio Plessi in the central square Piazza del Popolo in Todi, as well as on the permanent work “Secret Water” (2022) at the ancient Roman cisterns. This last is an installation of four columns composed of digital ledwall held by iron structures, donated by the artist to the Municipality of Todi.
On August 27, in conjunction with the first day of the Todi Festival, there was also the opening of the temporary exhibition “Fabrizio Plessi-Progetti dal Mondo”, at Sala delle Pietre in the town hall. The exhibition was curated by Marco Tonelli and was on display until September 25. Visitors had a chance to learn about Fabrizio Plessi’s artistic background as well as view his works designed for the world’s largest cities.
In addition, during the Festival, the Foundation organized parallel events like the Urban Art Tours: a series of guided walking tours through the premises of the Festival and Beverly Pepper’ Park. There were also educational workshops for adults and children taught by professional teachers.
On weekends during the Festival, aperitifs were offered next to the monumental digital sculpture in the charming location of Piazza del Popolo
